δεκατεύω, 1) den Zehend eintreiben, übh. von einer Steuererhebung, die man als gehässig bezeichnen will, s. Böckh Staatzh. II p. 57; τινά, von Jemand, Dem. 22, 77. – 2) den zehnten Theil nehmen, bes. um ihn einer Gottheit zu weihen, τούτους δεκατεῠσαι τῷ ϑεῷ Her. 7, 132; τὰ χρήματα δεκατευϑῆναι τῷ Διΐ 1, 89; τὰ ἐξ ἀγροῠ τῇ ϑεῷ Xen. An. 5, 3, 9; τοὺς Θηβαίους τοῖς ϑεοῖς Pol. 9, 39; vgl. Harpocr.; Plut. Camill. 8; τὰς οὐσίας Alexis Ath. VI, 225 f; pass., τοὺς Θηβαίους δεκατευϑῆναι Xen. Hell. 6, 8, 20 u. 5, 35, es soll ihnen als Strafe aufgelegt werden, den Zehend zu geben. – Den zehnten Mann hinrichten, decimiren, Dio Cass.; vgl. Dion. H. 9, 50. – Nach B. A. 235 auch = δεκάζειν.
