Sm. 11, 170. – Fett, Schmalz, Hippocr. – Uebertr., ein Dummkopf, nach Hesych. auch σιαλίς, weil die Alten meinten, zu große Fettigkeit schade der Geisteskraft (vgl. pingue ingenium u. dgl.). Andere wollten diese Bdtg von σίαλον ableiten; nach E. M. σιαλίζει μὲν τὰ βρέφη καὶ οἱ ὑπεργηράσαντες, οὓς ἀναισϑήτους λέγο υσιν. – Auch = σίαλον, wo es nach Suid. σιαλός geschrieben werden soll, aber zw.
